Today I got a chance to take our team through the evolution of Intranet and how HTML evolved from version 1.0 to what we have now. HTML 5 & CSS sure have changed the way how webpages look now.
I also briefed the team on the basics like What is HTML, the new changes that got into every big release, the differences between HTML & HTML 5, what browsers and which versions do support HTML 5.
Likewise, I also covered CSS 3 and how it is different from CSS 2, what’s new in CSS 3, the CSS 3 modules etc. CSS3 is collaboration of CSS2 specifications and new specifications, we can call as modules. Some of the modules are shown below.
- Box Model
- Image Values and Replaced Content
- Text Effects
- 2D Transformations
- 3D Transformations
- Multiple Column Layout
- User Interface
Here are some vital differences between CSS & CSS3 and as anticipated the later has lot of new features that makes compelling websites easy.
A layman illustration of HTML, CSS and the difference it could make to webpages. As illustrated HTML forms, the barebone of your site and with CSS you add the design aspects which is made to action with the functionalities CSS3 & HTML5 offers.
I also showed them examples of sites that are built only with HTML (those old day sites) and the sites that are aesthetically built with the help of HTML 5 / CSS 3. I might have a sequel session to demonstrate more of the features with code examples.
